Determining Fault in Multi-Vehicle Accidents: What to Consider

Traffic accidents can be devastating, and determining who was at fault can be difficult. In a recent multi-vehicle accident, Trucking Law Personal Injury Attorneys were called in to help clients who had been injured. In this type of accident, it can be difficult to determine who was driving correctly and at the appropriate speed, especially when it involves large trucks. This is due to the numerous factors that come into play – driving conditions, how fast the other vehicles were traveling, any safety guidelines that may have been broken, and the occupants of other vehicles involved.

To help with this process, Trucking Law has developed a detailed Fault Determination Guide. This guide provides information on what factors should be considered when determining fault in a traffic accident, including data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS). It also covers environmental and weather conditions that could have played a role in the chain reaction collisions that took place.

Many people involved in traffic accidents suffer physical injuries – including broken bones or head injuries – while others may need legal assistance after being charged by police with reckless driving or fleeing from officers during traffic stops. Trucking Law is here to help you through this difficult time by providing legal guidance and representation from start to finish. Contact us today for more information about our fault determination guide or any other personal injury law issue you may be facing, including truck accident cases. Multiple Vehicle Accidents Causing Injury and Death in the US

This Year, we saw a horrific truck crash that resulted in the death of three people. A 13-year-old passenger was taken off life support after a live-streamed crash on social media. The 48-year-old driver from Warren was killed after being partially ejected from a rollover crash in Roseville overnight. A strange man sustained injuries following an I 75 overpass collision while under construction. One lane of Rotunda Road Bridge is temporarily closed due to a vehicle striking it in Dearborn. Thanksgiving Day saw a Northbound intoxicated man cause head on collisions with three vehicles, resulting in serious injury for one and death for the others. Southfield experienced a three car crash that caused serious injuries when one woman changed lanes on the highway and was rear ended by a truck.

As you can see, multiple vehicle accidents are causing injury and death across the United States. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations state truck drivers may not operate their vehicles past 11 hours or 14 hours, including non-driving jobs, to ensure safety. Unfortunately, these regulations are often not followed, which is why crashes like this continue to happen. If you have been injured or lost someone as a result of a multi-car accident, don't hesitate to contact an attorney. They will be able to help you get the compensation that you deserve from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Tragic Three-Vehicle Accident on U.S. 23 Claims Three Lives

On March 12, 2021, a tragic three-vehicle accident occurred on U.S. 23 near Whitmore Lake Road in Ann Arbor Township, Michigan. In total, three people died as a result of this accident, including a child. The crash involved two cars and an injured car, as well as a 10,000 pound (ca. 4,536 kilogram) commercial truck. This resulted in both northbound and southbound U.S. 23 being closed for several hours following the incident while authorities investigated what happened and dealt with the aftermath of the accident scene itself.

In Georgia, where this accident occurred, drivers are required to have at least $25,000 worth of liability insurance coverage each due to potential future incidents such as these occurring on state roads. Accidents like these here were known to happen all too often. Unfortunately, despite preventative countermeasures taken by state highway patrol officers or even local law enforcement stationed nearby along those same highways daily trying their bests still it seems (as apparent from this event) aren't always effective enough, unfortunately.

A jury can assign fault for the crash between any combination of all three drivers accordingly, depending on how much evidence is present or even omitted during or after investigations. This is concerning which driver's particular actions may have led up to there being such dire consequences here today. However, if they decide that the injured car driver is found 50% liable, then she can recover any money from all other drivers. This could impact her ability to recover damages later down the line carried out by either other former parties involved. Simply put, moving forward awkwardly anytime soon hopefully though once across court, perhaps.

What are the common causes of truck accidents?

Common causes of truck accidents include driver fatigue, distracted driving, speeding, improper truck maintenance, and inclement weather conditions. Other factors such as inadequate training, overloaded trucks, and negligent behavior can also contribute to truck accidents.
